Pre-First students are encouraged to develop a sense of respect and appreciation for other cultures, traditions, and times through multicultural experiences and activities. Themes such as the rain forest, modern world cultures and communities are integrated into the curriculum in ways that promote both social awareness and basic academic skills. Plays, literature, themes, community service projects, assemblies, classroom discussion, and field trips all promote these goals. In December, the girls take the lead in a play about sharing that incorporates the younger students from Threes through Kindergarten. They also produce a play for their own parents and friends in the spring, working collaboratively and cooperatively on everything from the scenery and costumes to memorized lines and songs.
