Throughout history various cultures and people have enhanced their lives by the everyday objects that they designed and created. Beyond the practical, functional role these objects served, they also were used for other purposes.  Oftentimes, they served as a status indicator and/or were imbued with various symbolic or magical values.  They were often a means of telling a story.  Mostly, however, they were a means of expression, a statement of one’s personality and environment. Emphasizing originality, craftsmanship and problem solving, this course will allow students the opportunity for experimentation and expression in a number of materials and techniques.  We will explore the traditional as well as the more contemporary.
