Spanish 8 continues the emphasis on oral communication while further developing students' skills in reading, writing, and listening.  At this level we present more challenging grammatical concepts, additional verb tenses, and more specialized vocabulary.  The focus will be on communicating a message rather than manipulating grammatical structures. The students will be using a new digital textbook this year called Español Santillana.  It will be a blended model of digital and print as the students will also have two print workbooks.  The new text emphasizes learning how to communicate a message rather than focusing on simply manipulating grammatical structures. In each chapter, the vocabulary, grammar and culture are all interwoven rather than being taught separately, and it makes for a richer experience for the students.   Presentation of real life vocabulary also encourages communication in Spanish.  Because of the way that the text is designed, students develop a deep awareness of and appreciation for the Hispanic culture and language, both within our national borders and on the international front.
